Duety (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is a household chore-tracking app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. By using Duety, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
- Email address and display name when you register with email/password or sign in with Google.
- A unique user ID assigned by Firebase Authentication.
Household & App Data
- Household name and member names you create within the app.
- Chores, schedules, completion logs, and notes you enter.
- Optional photos attached to completed chores (stored in Firebase Storage).
- App preferences such as notification settings and time-zone offsets (stored locally on your device only — never synced to our servers).
Usage & Analytics Data
- Anonymous usage events (e.g. chore created, chore completed, sign-in method) collected via Firebase Analytics to help us understand how the app is used and improve it.
- Device type, OS version, app version, device identifiers, and general region (country-level) collected automatically by Firebase Analytics.
Subscription Data
- If you subscribe to Duety Premium, your subscription status and purchase history are managed via RevenueCat. RevenueCat receives your anonymous app user ID and purchase receipts from Google Play to validate and manage your subscription. RevenueCat does not receive your name or email address.
Crash & Diagnostics Data
- Crash reports and error logs collected via Firebase Crashlytics, including device model, OS version, app version, and a stack trace. This data never includes your household content or personal chore information.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and sync your household data across devices.
- To authenticate you and manage your account.
- To send local notifications and reminders you configure (processed entirely on your device).
- To diagnose crashes and fix bugs.
- To understand feature usage and improve the app experience.
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.
3. Data Storage & Security
Your household data is stored locally on your device using SQLite and, if you enable cloud sync, on Google Firebase Firestore servers. Firebase services are operated by Google LLC and are subject to Google’s Privacy Policy.
We use Firebase security rules to ensure only authenticated members of your household can access your household’s data. Data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
4. Data Sharing
We share data only in the following limited circumstances:
- Google Firebase — Authentication, Firestore database, Storage, Analytics, and Crashlytics. See Firebase Privacy.
- RevenueCat — Subscription validation and management. See RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.
- Household members — Data you add to a shared household is visible to other members of that household.
- Legal requirements — If required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users.
5. Data Retention
Your account and household data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may delete your data at any time by deleting your household and account within the app, or by contacting us at support@duety.app. Analytics and crash data is retained per Google Firebase’s default retention policies.
6. Children’s Privacy
Duety is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing of your data.

8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of Duety after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
